Way too many tech devices rule our day

Too much technology

Every single day we are slammed with technology. From the second you wake up to the moment you finally put your phone down and go to sleep.

Most of the companies we interact with also throw technology in our face. Who says you want real customer support? AI is now the solution to save the company money.

It’s easy with so much around us to slip into technology overload. It’s also easy to lose the human touch.

The best part about being a small homestead business is that you can change all that.

Instead of pawning your customer interactions off to a faceless AI, you can answer customer emails and calls personally. Find ways to cut through the technology red tape and show off the real business.

But it’s not just our customers that are suffering from technology. We too have to deal with all the tech things changing in our business.

Recently, I spent hours trying to find the right solution to a need our business had. I was faced with three different options, all of which seemed like they could accomplish the task. Back and forth, testing and testing again. Hours wasted.

In the end, my gut told me I needed to go with the same company that produces another solution we already use. 20/20 hindsight says I should have just done that in the first place. It’s all too easy to get caught up in the “new” and ignore the tried and true.

Yes, in the world today we will always be surrounded by ever changing technology. The key is not to let technology run away with us and our time.

Some tech solutions will save you time. Imagine scheduling an online meeting without 50 emails back and forth to set a time that works for everyone. But it can just as easily steal time.

Social media is a huge offender of our technology time. And running a business really means you can’t just avoid social or technology in general. But we do have the option of time management.

Plan your day. Choose what is important. Free your time. Most importantly, focus on the human touch so you can stand out.

When technology overtakes your life and overwhelms your customers, nobody wins. Choose to make technology work for you on your time so you and your business win.
