Dice on notepad showing change and chance

Do you really need that?

Change comes at us in lots of ways.

Sometimes we create the change, and others the change comes to us. But the real question is: do you really need the change?

Many businesses are sinching the proverbial belt. Buckling down to ensure they can survive what feels like a huge mountain and risky markets ahead. And the first thing that gets looked at is outbound expenses.

While it might seem like a good deal to switch from one piece of software or tool to another cheaper version, it’s not always a promising idea.

Recently I looked at switching one of our key software tools. I spent hours doing research. Decided what I wanted to move to, and was almost ready to commit to the change. But then I stepped back and realized how much time it would really take to make the change.

And how much the change on my part would impact on my customers. And so, the change was scrapped. But not before I lost way too many hours debating on the change.

When thinking of making changes in your business, it’s important to look at the bigger picture first.

Will this change lower the amount of work you will need to do, or increase it?

What will be the impact on your customers?

What is the cost to you in time to implement the change you seek?

If you have answered the questions and are happy with the answers, go for it. If the results are questionable, you might want to rethink about making that change. Before you waste time or money.
