More is not better

More is not better

As humans we often get caught up in this feeling that more is better. More money, more business, more stuff. But the truth is often far from it.

And it’s very true when it comes to marketing. More marketing does not make it better. More poorly written blog articles will not give you more search engine visibility. More social posts do not mean you will be seen more.

It used to be common advice for business owners to post at least once a day, or even multiple times a day. That was the key to winning on social media. The truth is the opposite.

One well thought out, and heart felt post will go way farther. And it’s not just numbers. True followers come from authenticity. Seven short meaningless posts will attract fewer people who are really interested in your business offering than one good post.

The same is true of SEO and ads. Tons of poor ads won’t make more sales. Hours spent buying bad links for SEO hurts more than helps.

Being authentic in our marketing means something. Spending the time to show what you stand for connects you to the right people.

Creating content for the sake of creating gets you nowhere. It’s even worse today than any time ever before. With the birth of AI, people ask AI to create hundreds of meaningless posts and push content over quality.

AI will never be able to replace your authenticity.  Pushing content for the sake of having something out there is a road to silent oblivion. Sure, it might feel like pushing content is working today, but when you look at the long term it’s not sustainable and not useful for your audience.

Find your voice and use it to publish good content. See growth from your real audience.
