Paper with SEO written on it

To be found or not found, that is the question

We are well past the Field of Dreams version of marketing. It’s no longer a build it and they will come. Rather it’s lots of hard work, and putting yourself out there and they will trickle in.

With enough work, the flood gates will open.

So, the question is, do you want to be found? Since you can’t just open a website and poof you way to customers and you want to be found, are you willing to put in the effort?

It won’t happen overnight, but if you create valuable content and share that content with others, eventually something will resonate with Google. And that might just be your launch point.

Reality is, going viral is overrated. Do you really want to reach thousands of people or are not really interested in what you are offering? I would rather put out good information consistently to a devoted group that likes me that hope for a chance at virility.

For many homestead businesses, the gateway to success starts with a small blog. Maybe it’s all about the products you make, with articles going in depth on why it’s important to do what you do. Or maybe it’s a general YouTube channel sharing your homestead story one video at a time.

The key is to decide what you want to do and stick with it. It’s not uncommon for SEO efforts to take 6 months to a year before you see any results. Consistent effort takes time.

If you want to be found, you must be out there, in the trenches and making the effort. Without effort, you will fade into oblivion. And that effort needs to be more than selling. Teaching, learning, or being interesting will get you much farther than constant sales.

So, are you ready to be found? Make yourself known so others can find you.
